Poppinghole Farm is a working farm and offers a wide range of outdoor acivities. Choose to play outdoor games, ride, fish, walk, or even help out on the farm and learn how to care for our animals.

Enjoy the tranquility of a fishing experience at our two well-stocked natural lakes. Mirror Carp and Tench are amongst some of the fish you may find. Take a picnic to the lake and enjoy the peaceful environment.

Walk for several miles directly from the farm without the need to drive to a location. Take a stroll to one of our lakes or explore the woods that back on to the farm. We are also located close to many nature trails and National Trust and Foresty Commision sites – Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle and Bedgebury Pinetum to name a few.

Farming Experiences

Experience life on the farm by joining our team for a day or two. Choose to feed and care for the animals, assist at lambing season, wind wool after sheep sheering and help make hay. An ideal, rural busman’s holiday!

Our lambing season, a time when the new lambs are born, usually takes place in the months of February and March. See the lambs being born, weigh them, feed them and watch their progress. Assist in giving them a good start in life.

Wool Winding

Learn how to wind sheeps wool after sheering has taken place. Help prepare the fleeces for weighing and selling on. This is the first process of turning fleece into fabric.

Equine care

We work and care for a wealth of horses including home bred sports horses and race horses. Shadow our equine staff and learn how to care for horses. Grooming, exercise and the right feed are all paramount to their well-being.
